Brainard Baptist Church – great website
September 7th, 2009. Posted by Huw in Web | No Comments »We love it when the design industry’s well-known and loved writers come across quality church websites.
This week, Abdubzeedo’s Fabio Sasso (abduzeedo.com/, www.twitter.com/abduzeedo), who was named as one of the top 20 web designers in the UK, listed a whole load of quality websites, one of which is Brainard Baptist Church in Tennessee, US.
Its a great, easy to use, well laid out and well designed website that can inspire us to up the game of church websites and start getting them listed with the big names.

Free Church Graphics – found on ChurchMarketingSucks
September 7th, 2009. Posted by Huw in Everday Church, Graphic Design, Multimedia | No Comments »Recently, we [CMS] discussed North Point’s creative process. But in case you’re looking for something more pre-packaged, we wanted to let you know about a number of churches and a few other places that offer free resource graphics:
- Elevation Church
- Lifechurch.tv
- Northside Christian Church
- Stuff I Can Use (Southeast Christian Church)
- The Church Box (Four Corners Community Church)
- CreativeMYK
- Muddy River Media
Of course free resources aren’t a great long-term solution. If you value good design and communication, you should invest the time and effort to do it yourself. Easier said than done, but communities like the Church Marketing Lab can help you learn and grow. You can’t live off other church’s resources forever.
But we certainly thought you should know that some other churches are doing it well and willing to share.

Forest campaigners attack Ryman’s ‘carbon neutral’ paper claims
August 6th, 2009. Posted by Huw in Fair Share, Wider World | No Comments »This report comes from the Guardian Newspaper…
New brand of paper is FSC-certified but the stationer’s environmental credentials have been questioned by green groups and charities that work with Brazil’s forest communities.
The first brand of “carbon neutral” office paper to be launched in the UK has been attacked by green groups and charities working with indigenous forest communities for the claims it makes.
The high street stationer Ryman, owned by Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis, has released Report Carbon Neutral as part of a plan to turn its 240 stores carbon neutral by March. But the claims about the paper have come under question in an investigation by Fred Pearce’sGreenwash column on the Guardian’s environment website.
The paper comes from Brazilian paper giant Suzano and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which was set up 15 years ago to recognise sustainable sources of wood and paper. But Suzano makes its paper from 300,000 hectares of monoculture eucalyptus plantations inBrazil. Local green groups claim these alien species do not support any native wildlife and that the plantations pollute rivers and displace peasant farmers.
